Demand for Ethiopian coffee, leather products growing in Turkish market – Envoy

Addis Ababa, May 16, 2024 (FBC) – The Minister of Trade and Regional Integration of Ethiopia, Mr. Gebremeskel Chala, engaged in discussions with the Ambassador of Türkiye to Ethiopia, Berk Baran, to enhance trade relations between the two nations.

During the meeting, Mr. Gebremeskel emphasized the importance of Türkiye sharing its expertise in trade, economy, technology, and capacity building with Ethiopia.

He also reiterated the Ethiopian government’s commitment to providing necessary support for Turkish investors participating in trade and investment activities in Ethiopia.

Ambassador Berk Baran highlighted the longstanding business and people-to-people relations between Ethiopia and Türkiye. He pointed out the demand for Ethiopian export products such as coffee and leather goods in the Turkish market.

In a bid to further strengthen bilateral trade relations, both parties announced an agreement to conduct a joint economic commission. This commission aims to address all trade and economic issues within a single forum, signaling a concerted effort to enhance economic cooperation between the two friendly nations.
